You can also force shutdown your Mac by pressing the Control+Option+Command+Eject keystroke combination. Press and hold the power button to force your Mac to shut down. When a dialog box appears, click the Shut Down button. Press Control+Eject (or press the power button). If your Macbook Pro is frozen, you can try to force a shutdown by pressing and holding the power button until your Mac shuts down.
